This resource includes a broadsheet newspaper article with certain techniques underlined. It requires pupils to identify the techniques and explain their effect. Perfect for use with National 5 or Higher. The article is titled ‘A touch of the macabre’. Includes a marking scheme with possible answers. I used this for RUAE/ Close Reading practise with a Higher class- ideal homework activity that can be self/ peer assessed using the marking scheme.

This plan will help students to produce an answer in the DRAMA section of the CRITICAL READING paper in the exam. It includes- key quotations, techniques used by Williams and support notes. This resource successfully improved the standard of Critical Essay marks in my class.
